At Kharmic, we specialize in bringing you the most stylish, high-quality beaded and shell jewelry on the planet.  We are busy designing new product all the time, using our creativity to assemble new and exciting combinations of color, beads, shells, wood, and everything natural that you can imagine.  You can rest assured that you are receiving the most desirable and fashionable jewelry of the present day. 

Kharmic Creations was born in 1998.  While traveling in Southeast Asia, we found ourselves stuck in the revolution and overthrow of Indonesia’s president.  Angered by a weakening currency as a result of the Asian Economic Crisis, revolutionaries burned the banks, and the currency became nearly worthless overnight.    

For a poor American student, there was no way to leave the island nation, as plane and boat ticket prices were suddenly extremely expensive. The helpful hotel staff helped me to retreat to the relatively safe haven of Bali, where I rented an apartment and planned to stay until stability returned.  Everybody was scared about what was going to happen, but also hopeful for a better future, with less corruption, and more prosperity for all.

I had always beaded and made things as a child, and I had always been self-employed. (I think I had a paper route for longer than any other kid, ever, in Medford, Oregon!) I was able to buy sterling silver beads and semi-precious stones (like amethyst) for .13 cents per gram! I started to make jewelry.  My neighbors, who were bored (and broke) started to help me. We would have beading circles - getting stocked up on Coca-Cola in the morning, cranking up the ghetto-blaster, and beading all day! 

When I could finally leave a couple of months later; we had 500 necklaces with the $500 I had to invest… and Kharmic Creations was born! We made friends for life that we still work with to this day... They have become family to me, and we’ve enjoyed watching marriages and the joy of children being born and becoming their own people... I feel truly blessed.   

In the coming weeks we will be introducing a new line of beautiful things that we  designed on our most recent trip to Indonesia! We are taking Kharmic Creations to a Whole New Level in 2012!
